Everyone needs time with their family, but this just plain stinks. I had plans to go to Tennessee and watch him perform, as well as watch him here in St. Louis again, that is if he would have came back. I’ve seen Kenny Chesney live more than a few times and every time it gets better. Oh well, I know that I’ll be able to catch one of his acoustic acts somewhere along the way.. Maybe while having a Beer in Mexico? -Greg

Kenny Chesney will not be touring next summer, Entertainment Weekly reports. Chesney, who routinely launches his annual tours in the spring and closes them in late summer or early fall, is one of the most successful touring acts in any musical genre. “I’m not quitting,” he told the magazine. “It’s just a short pause. It would be easy to keep doing it, because it’s fun and the fans are unbelievable. … Then you realize that at some point you’re missing a part of your life. … I need to recharge creatively and get off the clock of having to be somewhere … and having to keep juggling all these things. And people needing answers. I just felt like this year it finally hit me that I need to get reconnected with my family.” Although he doesn’t plan a major tour, he didn’t rule out the possibility of occasionally performing acoustic concerts at select venues. “Something to feed my soul,” he said. “I’ve given a big part of my soul for this for so long, and nothing has really been filling that up. It seems like in the last couple of years, I’ve been on an empty tank. And that’s gotta change.” His 2009 tour closes Saturday (Sept. 19) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

When the CMA nominations were announced yesterday, Kenny walked away with nods for Entertainer, Male Vocalist and Vocal Event with good friend Mac McAnally for their multiple week #1 “Down The Road.” “It’s funny,” admitted the man who’s also won the CMA Album of the Year for When the Sun Goes Down, “but the more you do this, the more those nominations mean. You realize what it takes to receive an honor like this – especially from your peers who make it happen and know the work and commitment it takes. You’ve got to be humbled knowing what you do is recognized. For me, the last 8 years has been about how do we make it mean more, give people all the things I wanted from the artists I loved growing up… so that when they look back, this music, these nights are something they’re gonna be proud to remember their youth by.” “Obviously, I want to win Entertainer. But looking at all of this, thinking about everything we’ve been, everything we’ve seen and done, in some ways I’ve already won because look at the memories we made. To me, that’s the best thing we can do: give the fans music and memories worth remembering.”

At least 114 people were arrested Saturday (Aug. 15) at Kenny Chesney’s concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., near Boston. According to the Boston Globe, another 228 were taken into protective custody at the New England Country Music Festival. Most of the offenses involved underage drinking. The police crackdown stemmed from Chesney’s concert there last year when two women were killed in an automobile accident after a day of tailgating on the parking lot. Neither of the victims had tickets to the concert. Chesney’s shows at Gillette Stadium have sold out for five consecutive years. Saturday’s concert also featured Sugarland, Montgomery Gentry and Miranda Lambert. More than 56,000 people attended the event.
