Cisco Next Gen Router, is coming this year!

Cisco announced yesterday that it’s next generation router will revolutionize the internet by dramatically increasing download speeds to the unthinkable. The Cisco CRS-3 router (Carrier Routing System) is designed to be more than 12 times the traffic capacity of its biggest competitors. Cisco made the following  statement:

It enables the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress to be downloaded in just over one second; every man, woman and child in China to make a video call, simultaneously; and every motion picture ever created to be streamed in less than four minutes.”

Cisco’s new CRS-3 and Googles new fiber network could be the end of AT&T, well in a better world. Whats more exciting is that this technology isn’t just some dream of Cisco’s, they said this router will actually be available this calendar year.  I’m thinking now would be a great time to buy stock in Cisco! -Greg

AT&T your killing me!

I’ve been on the Android bus for quite a while. I’ve played with the 1.5 SDK, built a little app for it. I’ve watched as Motorola’s Droid came to life and charged the world like the beaches of Normandy. I now have subscribed to several Android blogs and get dozens of emails a day about Android this and Android that. I’ve become jealous of a few people I know who have some type of Android device. It’s even got as bad as people giving me trouble about them Few phones have hit the FCC with the possibility that they me be headed for AT&T’s network in the US, but I’ve seen nothing. Dell is still in my heart with the hopes that the phone they are now selling in China will sometime in the near future make it to the states. When is AT&T going to accept the reality that Android is not a fad, its not going to die, its going to make them millions and I NEED ONE!!!  I hate you AT&T, I hate you. -Greg

Acer joining the mobile Android market.

Looks like Acer will be joining the mobile Android market with a lot more mobile phones starting in 2010. Acer has already entered the mobile market this year with 10 devices, 9 running Windows Mobile OS and now an Android. Now they have plans to start building phones using the Android mobile OS. “There is definitely momentum behind Android. The pace is faster than most would have anticipated one year ago,”. Here is an article by Engadget that goes more into detail about the Acer Liquid, Acer’s Android phone. I talked about Dell entering the mobile market with their first model in China just recently, looks like the larger computer companies are all starting to get into the mobile markets. I wonder if we will see IBM enter the race, I haven’t heard anything, I’m just saying it would be something to see that! – Greg
